To ensure food safety, prevent foodborne illnesses, and protect consumer rights and health, the Food Safety Department has recommended that local governments and relevant agencies implement measures to ensure food safety during the upcoming Mid-Autumn Festival.
Specifically, the recommendations include:
- Conducting Inspections: Prioritize inspections and enforcement of food safety regulations at facilities involved in the production, processing, and sale of food. Focus on mooncake manufacturers, confectionery producers, beverage makers, traditional food producers from craft villages, small-scale establishments, and street food vendors.
- Product Traceability and Recall: Promptly trace and recall any products that do not meet food safety standards. Strictly address any violations and publicly disclose the names, addresses, and types of violating products through mass media. If criminal activity is suspected, refer the case to law enforcement agencies for legal action.
- Public Awareness Campaigns: Collaborate with media to enhance public education on food safety during the Mid-Autumn Festival.
- For Food Producers and Sellers: Educate them on compliance with food safety laws, including facility conditions, equipment standards, knowledge and practices of staff, raw material sourcing, product registration, use of colorants, flavorings, additives, packaging, and labeling requirements.
- For Consumers: Provide guidance on selecting, preparing, storing, and using safe food products. Advise consumers to purchase products with proper labeling and clear origins, and to avoid using unlisted additives or incorrect dosages.

- Emergency Preparedness: Direct local health units to prepare emergency response plans, maintain standby personnel, and ensure the availability of medical supplies and chemicals to manage and treat food poisoning cases. Investigate food poisoning incidents, identify causes, and implement preventive measures to avoid future occurrences.
