The Canh Cao Sinkhole, a 150-meter-deep natural formation located within the UNESCO-recognized Non Nuoc Cao Bang Global Geopark in Cao Bang Province, was discovered and opened for adventure tourism in 2023. After lying hidden in the remote forests for millions of years, the sinkhole was first explored by Pham Van Manh and his friends in late 2022.
 

The sinkhole, described as a pristine area untouched by mass tourism, presents a challenging adventure for experienced explorers. The group used abseiling techniques to descend over 80 meters into the sinkhole, discovering an underground cavern with a primeval forest ecosystem, limestone ceilings, and stalactite columns.
 

Manh's exploration of the sinkhole was marked by the physical challenges of navigating the rugged terrain, especially during the cold weather. Despite the difficulties, the group successfully completed their adventure in a single day, and Manh described the experience of abseiling into the sinkhole as unforgettable. He emphasized that the Canh Cao Sinkhole is a challenging destination, suitable only for those with experience in trekking, climbing, and using safety equipment.
 

Manh also recommended additional activities in the area, such as paddleboarding on Thang Hen Lake, exploring nearby caves, and trekking through the surrounding forest. Due to the lack of developed tourism services, visitors are advised to prepare thoroughly for the trip, including bringing enough food, water, and appropriate gear, with the best time to visit being from October to April.
