Vietnamese Embrace Unique Trend: ‘Turning Every Rooftop into a National Flag’

Le Quang Vu, 29, has sparked a unique trend by painting the red and yellow national flag on the roof of his house in Tam Duong district, Vinh Phuc province. The idea originated when Vu watched a video about painting flags on rooftops and decided to carry out the project on the newly built roof for his parents. Using a drone and meticulous measuring techniques, Vu ensured that the five-pointed star was perfectly proportioned and aesthetically pleasing. After completing the project, his video garnered 2.8 million views and over 100,000 likes overnight, creating a wave of “painting the national flag on rooftops” on social media.
 

Inspired by Vu, Nguyen Thai Trong from Ngoc Lac district, Thanh Hoa, also painted a red and yellow national flag on his 60 m² rooftop. He shared his plans to add the hammer and sickle flag and encouraged local residents to join in. Trong hopes this initiative will become a widespread movement, showcasing the patriotism of the people and highlighting national spirit.

This trend has attracted participants from various provinces such as Cao Bang, Thai Nguyen, Hanoi, Ninh Thuan, and Ho Chi Minh City. Many individuals have started preparing to paint flags on their rooftops, especially ahead of National Day on September 2. Master Le Anh Tu and Dr. Nguyen Anh Hong praised the significance of this movement, noting that it reflects deep national pride and patriotism. They also emphasized that this is a positive trend, contrasting with previous tasteless or offensive trends.

The spread of the “every rooftop is a national flag” movement has created a positive impact on social media and within the community, highlighting the patriotic spirit of the Vietnamese people.
