With nearly 120 years of history, Haiphong Station still retains its classical beauty with a strong French architectural influence.

Haiphong Station (at 75 Luong Khach Thien, Ngo Quyen District, Haiphong City) is the main railway station in Haiphong City. It is also the final passenger station on the Hanoi - Haiphong railway line. Additionally, Haiphong Station has a rail line that runs to the Haiphong port to transport goods from the port to other areas.

The station was built by the French and has been in operation since 1902. It is one of the four major stations on the 99-kilometer railway connecting Haiphong with Hanoi. Mr. Pham Tien Manh, Head of Haiphong Station, said: “Like the Hai Phong Opera House, Haiphong Museum, or some other administrative buildings in Haiphong, Haiphong Station bears a strong French architectural imprint. It is also considered one of the most beautiful train stations the French left in Vietnam.”

After nearly 120 years, Haiphong Station remains one of the most beautiful buildings in Haiphong. In addition to the main building, which has been preserved almost intact, the station still maintains its iron columns supporting the platform roof and the green stone floor from its original construction.

Mr. Phan Diep Hung, 53 years old, who has worked at Haiphong Station since 1985, shared: “The scenery at Haiphong Station has remained almost unchanged. Many people say they see the memories of the subsidy period when they visit here.” For the people of Haiphong, Haiphong Station is likely considered a heritage.

Today, even though trains are no longer a popular mode of transportation, Haiphong Station remains an attractive destination worth visiting in Haiphong City.
