The world’s largest prayer wheel stupa has been officially recognized by Guinness World Records on December 11, 2022. Located at the Samten Hills Dalat Cultural and Spiritual Tourism Complex, in Kambute Hamlet, Tu Tra Commune, Don Duong District, Lam Dong Province, the structure is approximately 44 km from the center of Da Lat.
Guided by the Venerable Drubwang Sonam Jorfel Rinpoche, the Drigung Kagyu Rinchen Khorchen Khorwe Go Gek prayer wheel stupa stands 37.22 meters tall, with a diameter of 16.53 meters, and weighs up to 200 tons. The construction began in late 2020 with the involvement of nearly 100 people, including 16 artisans from India and Nepal. The stupa houses prayer wheels inscribed with the mantra Om Mani PadMe Hum and various auspicious offerings.
According to Buddhist scriptures, the prayer wheel stupa is considered the residence of the Bodhisattva Avalokiteshvara and is believed to emit positive energy when rotated. Visitors to Samten Hills Dalat are encouraged to turn the prayer wheels from right to left, contributing to the dissemination of compassionate and loving energy.
The stupa not only holds profound spiritual value but also represents cultural, artistic, and friendly exchanges between Vietnam and India. It stands as a proud symbol of Samten Hills Dalat and is an attractive destination for tourists seeking a spiritual experience and to learn about Vietnam’s Guinness World Record achievement.
