President Ho Chi Minh dedicated his entire life to the pursuit of the dream: "The country to be independent, the nation to be prosperous, and the people to be happy." This dream has been shaped over thousands of years of national history and is clearly reflected in Vietnam's historical documents, from Ly Thuong Kiet's “Nam Quoc Son Ha” to Ho Chi Minh's “Declaration of Independence.”

The aspiration for "independence, freedom, and happiness" is not only the desire of the Vietnamese people but also of all humanity, recognized in the United Nations Charter and international conventions. These are sacred values for which humanity, including Vietnam, has been willing to sacrifice to achieve.

From the early years of the 20th century, President Ho Chi Minh began his quest for a path to save the nation. With his intense patriotism and spirit of learning, he turned to Marxism-Leninism and chose the path of proletarian revolution to liberate the nation from colonial rule. Upon finding the right path, Ho Chi Minh led the people in the August Revolution of 1945, establishing the Democratic Republic of Vietnam and reclaiming the nation’s independence and freedom.

Under the leadership of President Ho Chi Minh, Vietnam went through wars of resistance against France and the U.S., eventually achieving independence and national unity. Ho Chi Minh not only focused on independence and freedom but also paid special attention to the people's welfare, striving to ensure that everyone "has enough to eat and wear, and everyone can receive an education."

The dream of President Ho Chi Minh for an independent, free, and happy nation has been continued and developed. In his testament, President Ho Chi Minh outlined the tasks needed to achieve this goal. The Communist Party and the people of Vietnam have continued to fulfill his wishes, achieving many significant accomplishments in the nation's construction and renewal.

On May 19 each year, the people of Vietnam express their gratitude for President Ho Chi Minh's contributions and continue to preserve and promote his legacy to build a prosperous, happy Vietnam that stands alongside the great powers of the world.
