After experiencing a robbery at gunpoint in the U.S., 30-year-old Zach from Oregon decided to move to Asia in search of a safer environment. As a language teacher, he chose Vietnam after reading about its stability and safety. Since moving to Ho Chi Minh City at the beginning of 2023, Zach has been very pleased with his decision. He finds the environment in Vietnam to be much safer compared to the U.S., where he lived in constant fear of gun violence.

Similarly, Maximilian Rolf from Germany, after nearly two years living in Hanoi, is happy with the relaxed pace of life and safety here. He is amazed by the Vietnamese habit of not locking doors and the willingness of locals to help each other. Maximilian appreciates the safety in Vietnam compared to European countries, where security issues are often managed more strictly.

Andrea Gallo from Italy also shares that the safety in Vietnam allows him to explore the country freely. He feels the friendliness of the Vietnamese people and the security while traveling, something he could not experience in his home country.

According to the 2023 Internations survey, Vietnam ranks among the top 15 best countries for expatriates, with high safety and security ratings. Associate Professor Pham Ngoc Trung, a cultural researcher, also affirms that the foreigners' remarks about safety in Vietnam are accurate and reflect the country’s positive development in economic, political, and social fields.
