On August 9, the National Electronic Library on Mine and Explosive Accident Prevention Education was officially launched.

The library was developed by the Vietnam National Mine Action Center (VNMAC) in collaboration with Catholic Relief Services (CRS) Vietnam. It aims to contribute to mine and explosive accident prevention education in Vietnam and support agencies and organizations working in this field in disseminating information on accident prevention, thus promoting safe behaviors among people and communities affected by mines and explosives.

Designed as a virtual exhibition, the library features a user-friendly interface, dynamic graphics, and a rich source of materials. It is an online treasure trove with diverse documents providing useful information on mines and explosives.

Users can access the library for free via the website: https://thuviendientu.vnmac.gov.vn or through the Library section on the official website of the Vietnam National Mine Action Center (VNMAC): https://vnmac.gov.vn/.

The library is designed as a virtual exhibition allowing users to easily navigate and explore functional rooms such as:
  • A cinema room featuring documentaries, news, and animated videos on mine and explosive accident prevention education (GDPTTNBMVN).
  • A mine exhibition room with 3D and 2D models, and real images of nearly 300 types of mines and explosives across all 63 provinces of Vietnam.
  • An exhibition room with paintings and photographs related to mine action and educational activities for mine accident prevention.
  • A library room containing guides, reports, legal documents on mine and explosive accident prevention education.
The library will be widely introduced to relevant agencies, 63 provinces and cities, media organizations, and the public, especially communities in areas affected by mine and explosive contamination.

By raising awareness and encouraging proactive understanding of the dangers of mines and explosives, people can better protect themselves and others from potential accidents, contributing to a Vietnam free from the impacts of post-war mines and explosives.

Clearing, Cleaning, and Handling Leftover Mines

“The National Electronic Library on Mine and Explosive Accident Prevention Education promises to be a significant step forward in mine accident prevention education in Vietnam. In the near future, VNMAC hopes to call for cooperation with agencies and organizations working in the field of mine accident prevention to supplement materials for the national electronic library,” said Mr. Giang Cong Bau, Deputy Director General of the Vietnam National Mine Action Center.

The development of the online national library on mine and explosive accident prevention education is part of the “Towards Sustainable Mine Accident Prevention Education for Primary and Secondary School Students” project, implemented by CRS in collaboration with VNMAC and funded by the U.S. Department of State.
Implemented from 2020 to 2024, the project aims to help children in mine and explosive contamination areas protect themselves from such accidents.

Established to address post-war issues, the National Steering Committee for the Recovery from Post-War Bombs and Chemical Agents focuses on reviewing, clearing, and handling leftover mines while implementing environmental recovery programs and supporting affected communities.

VNMAC works closely with international organizations and government agencies to enhance capacity and effectiveness in mine and chemical agent recovery efforts, as well as support mine and chemical agent victims with medical, educational, and resettlement services.

Through advocacy and education activities, VNMAC raises community awareness about the risks of mines and chemical agents, contributing to building a safe and healthy living environment, aiming for a Vietnam free from post-war mines and explosives.
