Bai Dinh Pagoda is located in the Trang An Scenic Landscape Complex, in Gia Sinh Commune, Gia Vien District, Ninh Binh Province, approximately 18 km from Ninh Binh City and about 100 km from Hanoi. Bai Dinh is renowned for holding several Asian and Vietnamese records, including: the largest gold-plated Buddha statue in Asia, the longest Arhat Corridor in Asia, the tallest Buddha Stupa in Asia, and the largest bronze Maitreya Buddha statue in Southeast Asia.

Bai Dinh Mountain has a long history, associated with many tales and legends about a famous Zen master of Vietnam - Ly Dynasty National Master Nguyen Minh Khong. He was the one who laid the foundation, built the Buddha statue, and established the Buddhist land here. The ancient Bai Dinh Pagoda was founded in 1136 by Zen Master Nguyen Minh Khong, including sites such as: Ngoc Well, the Ancestor Worship Cave, the Buddha Worship Cave, the Mother Worship Cave, and the Cao Son Shrine...

Since 2003, based on the old pagoda, Xuan Truong Construction Enterprise has invested in the restoration and expansion of the pagoda. The current architectural highlights of the new pagoda include: Tam Quan Gate, Bell Tower, Avalokiteshvara Hall, Founder Hall, Three Realms Hall, Stupa, Eightfold Path, and the Arhat Corridor... Additionally, the pagoda has many ongoing construction projects such as: Dam Thi Lake area, Fish Release Pond, and Fourfold Gratitude Stupa...

On June 23, 2014, the Trang An Scenic Landscape Complex (including Bai Dinh Pagoda) was recognized by the World Heritage Committee as Vietnam's first mixed World Heritage site for its cultural and natural values.

Many important events have been held here, such as: the United Nations Vesak Festival, the ceremony to welcome the Buddha's relics from India to Bai Dinh Pagoda, and the ceremony to welcome the World Peace Buddha statue...

The Trang An Scenic Landscape Complex includes: the Bai Dinh Pagoda Cultural and Spiritual Tourism Area, Trang An Ecotourism Area, Hoa Lu Historical Site... It is not only a source of pride for the people of the ancient capital Hoa Lu but also a collective joy for the Vietnamese nation. Moreover, this complex adds beauty and splendor to the "S-shaped" landscape of Vietnam.
